Statutory Inspection of Anglican & Methodist Schools (SIAMS)

SIAMS stands for Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools, a denominational inspection process for Church of England and Methodist schools in the UK. It's a separate inspection from Ofsted, conducted in accordance with Section 48 of the Education Act 2005. SIAMS inspections focus on the school's Christian vision, the impact of its Christian values, and how the school is enabling pupils and adults to flourish. Living the Christian Way

Our values and the importance of living them is a collective focus embedded into each part of our day. We recognise context with inclusive language and images. We are accessible to all with no assumptions of faith. We respect that there are faiths which are different and also people of no faith. We encourage opportunities to think and ask questions. There is always space for differing opinions, discussions, questions and reflections. We encourage meaningful contributions from all including pupils who lead on and evaluate worship (GLOW):

We have morning, lunchtime and end of the day prayers which remind us to be thankful. We end every day with 'A Day Full of Smiles' where we reflect on what we have learned and discovered, how we practiced our values, what we are proud of and thankful for. We hold Collective Worship daily:

Monday - whole school Collective Worship including a story and hymn or song linked to our current value

Tuesday - Collective Worship in age phases with our Campus Chaplain focussing on a Bible story linked to our value

Wednesday - Class collective worship including a story linked to our current value

Thursday - Collective Worship through song in our key stages with hymn and songs linked to our current value

Friday - Whole school Collective Worship to celebrate children's learning, achievements and living our values in and out of school

We also hold a Collective Worship each term which are open to our families including Harvest Festival, carol concerts and an Easter service.

R.E Curriculum

We use Understanding Christianity supplemented with the Swindon Borough Council Agreed Syllabus to ensure pupils will leave school with a coherent understanding of Christian belief and practice. We explore the significant theological concepts within Christianity as part of developing their wider religious, theological and cultural literacy.

The Big Frieze is a resource used by Understanding Christianity. It is an amazing piece of artwork by Emma Yartlett that tells the Big Story of the Bible through art. See what Bible stories, characters and themes you can notice!

Children also learn about each of the core concepts during their journey through school as part of our spiral curriculum.

Bible Stories Enrichment Club

Our Chaplain Owen runs a weekly Bible stories enrichment supported by Kingfisher staff and the Stowe Church.

GLOW (Group Leading on Worship)

GLOW is made up of children within the school. They help lead Collective Worship and support across the school.

Child of Hope

Child of Hope is a Christian-based charity which provides free education from its schools, healthcare and welfare to children from the poorest and most vulnerable families in Eastern Uganda.

We have built relationships with their school community. Each class at Kingfisher writes to the children in their matching age class. We send them a book of our class author, lots of reading books and our class photo. We receive cards and letters back and they have sent us homemade gifts. We have also held shared assemblies and collective worships.
